YUNIS ABDELHAMID BELIEVES WILL STILL BE FOCUSED ON REIMS DESPITE SUNDERLAND INTEREST, SAYING, “HE IS FULLY INVOLVED WITH US.”

In a recent interview with L’Équipe, Reims captain Yunis Abdelhamid (36) has commented on the impact that the speculation around Will Still’s future has had on the players, club and manager.

The Belgian born head coach’s future with Reims has been cast under doubt in recent weeks with clubs in England reportedly interested in brining the Reims manager back to the UK. This interest has been reaffirmed following quotes where Still revealed his desire to return to England, “I’ve been abroad all my life, and I’ve been working in an environment that isn’t quite mine all my life. And I just want to come home.”

Despite the reported interest in Still, his captain does not believe that it has affected him or the players, “Absolutely not. For us, Will Still is not up for it. What is said in the newspapers can lead to misinterpretation. So we, the players, don’t talk about that. We are focused and I can assure you that he is also fully involved with us.”

Still remains a candidate for the vacant Sunderland post

According to The Athletic, Will Still remains a potential candidate for the vacant Sunderland managerial position. The Championship previously tried to appoint the former Beerschot manager but were unsuccessful. With Michael Beale now sacked, Still is considered as a potential option for a summer appointment with Reims unwilling to let him leave midseason.
