Everton: Simon Jordan tells James Garner to ‘shut up’ as Jim White blasts back live on air

Everton midfielder James Garner has been mocked by Simon Jordan on talkSPORT for his comments about the points deduction appeal.

The Toffees star has come under fire for suggesting that he has been distracted by the appeal, which has yet to be decided upon.

Jordan slammed the midfield man for his view and indeed for not helping produce a better result in the 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace on Monday (19 February).

“You might scoff at this, but Everton midfielder James Garner said yesterday it was playing on his mind,” White said on talkSPORT [11:07am, 22 February].

Jordan interjected: “Oh shut up,” with White responding: “No not shut up. What about the Evertonians who are paying good money to travel to Brighton this weekend? Should they be travelling all the way down there thinking ‘we still don’t know the result of this appeal do we?’”

Jordan replied: “I’ll have that argument and debate and accept that point that the Everton fans will feel it. Do not tell me that the institutionally and clinically unaware, wrapped up in their own lives footballers are sitting there going ‘well actually, we’re troubled by it.’ Rubbish, do your job, maybe if you hit the target a few more times on Monday, Garner, you might have put your team in a situation where they were way outside the bottom three.”

Everyone connected with the Goodison Park club will be extremely eager to hear the outcome of the appeal, which was launched immediately after the Toffees were deducted 10 points for financial breaches earlier this season. It has been a long process, with seemingly no decision incoming, but all Sean Dyche and his players can do is continue trying to pick up points on the pitch.

They must work hard behind the scenes in order to do that, with Brighton their next opponents in their bid for survival.

That will be a very tricky trip to the south coast, with the hosts set to be full of confidence after thrashing Sheffield United 5-0 last time out.Everton meanwhile won’t exactly be thrilled about their stalemate at home to Palace, but many will be looking on the bright side that they did not lose the game, which could have been a real disaster given how the Eagles are also struggling in the bottom half of the table.
