There is West Ham fury at Premier League officials today as the VAR audio is released from the incident against the Blades.
And one of the eight games in which they were denied victory came against Sheffield United in the Premier League last month.
In the space of a couple of minutes at the death West Ham were wronged twice. First they pegged back to 2-2 following a ridiculous decision to award a penalty to Sheffield United for a foul on Ollie McBurnie.
Replays clearly showed the Blades striker had in fact elbowed Hammers goalkeeper Alphonse Areola in the face, bursting his lip – requiring him to be substituted.
But West Ham went up the other end after the restart and were somehow denied what looked a clear penalty on Jarrod Bowen in the last kick of the game.
Bowen was wrestled to the ground by Sheffield United captain Anel Ahmedhodzic as a cross was put right on his head in the area.
A very brief VAR check followed and West Ham were left incredulous as their appeals were dismissed. Moyes vented his fury on the touchline too.
To make matters worse Ahmedhodzic then goaded West Ham and the Premier League after the game by essentially admitting it was a foul on social media.
Pundits, journalists and former referees were in agreement that it was one of the worst VAR decisions of the season.
Well there is West Ham fury at Premier League officials today as the VAR audio is released from the incident against the Blades.
Especially the flippant manner in which the penalty claims are dismissed as the VAR officials claim it was Bowen fouling Ahmedhodzic.
Because the VAR states – after viewing the incident once – that ‘Bowen pulls him down’. There is no further inspection of the incident despite another angle showing even more clearly it was the Blades man wrestling Bowen to the floor.
