What makes Knutson so special for Celtics supporters?

Kjetil Knutson remember him? The Norwegian in charge of Bodo/Glimt, still not ring a bell? Well it should as he’s a name that’s held in high esteem by a number of Celtic supporters.

Knutson is highly regarded and has his teams playing a certain style of productive football, we of course witnessed that first hand when his Bodo/Glimt side knocked us out of the conference league knock outs two years ago.

Knutson’s name was on a few folks lips when we were looking to replace Ange Postecoglou, before we turned to Brendan Rodgers. We weren’t the only club that’s been linked with a move for the Norwegian, as plenty of sides including our Glasgow rivals were credited with an interest in him not so long ago.

That coupled with the fact we have Brendan Rodgers in place still hasn’t stopped certain supporters swooning over the 55 year old Norwegian.

This was the case just today when some supporters were left ogle eyed after his side produced a great team goal against Ajax in the conference league knock out stages.

Granted it was a good team goal, but why are they fretting over a guy who’s tactical nous we’ve only ever witnessed on a handful of occasions?

Some supporters do make you wonder sometimes. Whether it’s fretting over players that are no longer here, it’s drooling over managers that have no connection with us whatsoever.
