West Ham in fear FA may charge Paqueta
Major worries exist within West Ham‘s senior management the FA will decide to charge Lucas Paqueta over suspicious betting patterns in order to make it someone else’s problem.
Paqueta continues to insist he had no knowledge or involvement and is completely innocent of all the patterns being probed writes Sean Whetstone.
If charged, however, it would be up to the FA’s Independent Regulatory Commission three-man panel to decide the outcome based on available evidence.
If we take Brentford’s Ivan Toney as an example it took exactly six months from the FA charging him to his ban being handed down and beginning.
Six months from this month that would leave us in August, deep within the summer transfer window and most likely putting many teams off bidding for Paqueta.
Claret and Hugh reported recently that if there is no outcome to the current priobe then Paqueta’s lawyers may be moved to sue the game’s ruling body
Late last year FIFA banned Brazilian players Ygor Catatau, Matheus Gomes and Gabriel Tota for life due to their involvement in a match-fixing scandal related to sports betting.
