“Doomed” Dean Saunders shares Everton relegation verdict live

Dean Saunders has insisted Sheffield United and Burnley are now doomed as a result of Nottingham Forest beating West Ham, also pointing to Everton as one of the teams to keep an eye on.

With Forest having picked up three points, they moved above Crystal Palace to 15th, putting five points between themselves and Everton in the relegation zone albeit with one more game played.

The upcoming clash between Everton and Palace now feels crucial for both sides, as a win for the Toffees would bring them to within two points of the Eagles as they await the outcome of their points deduction appeal.

Speaking live on talkSPORT [17 February, 17:35], Saunders shared: “It’s a big win for Forest. You look at the bottom of the league now, Sheffield United and Burnley look doomed. You look at Everton, I’m looking at the scores here, Brentford, that’s a bad result for them. But for Forest, that’s a big three points.”

Even with 13 games left of the season, this game could be the difference between relegation and survival for both sides. A win for Sean Dyche’s side could pull them out of the relegation zone if results go their way.

If they can edge closer to their relegation rivals, the outcome of their points-deduction appeal could see Everton given points back, which in turn could see them leapfrog Palace who currently sit 15th in the Premier League.

Meanwhile, Palace are a club in turmoil themselves. It has been widely reported that Roy Hodgson will be sacked, but the 76-year-old fell ill in training ahead of the announcement of his departure, leaving the Eagles in limbo.

Former Frankfurt boss Oliver Glasner looks like he will be the one to take over at Selhurst Park, but he will not be in charge for the clash at Goodison on Monday.

Roy Hodgson looks set to lose his job at Crystal Palace before the Everton clash.

With both clubs in tricky situations, for very different reasons, the outcome of Monday night’s game could be a killer for whichever one fails to take all three points.
