Crystal Palace agree terms with Oliver Glasner

Crystal Palace have agreed terms with Oliver Glasner to become their new manager, as Roy Hodgson has agreed to step aside amid a health scare.

Palace have agreed terms with former Frankfurt manager Glasner, The Sun reports, amid a health scare that saw Hodgson hospitalised. The ex-England boss fell ill during training on Thursday amid intense speculation over his future and the report claims the two parties have agreed to part ways, with Paddy McCarthy to take charge of Monday night’s clash with Everton.

Given Hodgson’s health, Palace are said to be acutely aware of the sensitivity that comes with announcing a new manager, so it remains unclear when Glasner will be moving to Selhurst Park. He won’t be in the dugout for the clash with Everton but he has agreed a deal until 2026 with a salary of £4 million ($5m).

Glasner is Austrian and began his career in his native country, with SV Ried and LASK, before moving to Germany with both Wolfsburg and Eintracht Frankfurt. He won the Europa League in 2021-22 with the latter.

Palace play Everton amid managerial uncertainty and will need a victory. They are currently 15th, just five points clear of the Toffees, who sit 18th.
