In the hours leading up to Super Bowl LVIII, news broke of Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Haason Reddick – formerly of the Arizona Cardinals – potentially seeking a trade.
There was some hope a reunion could take place with Arizona and Reddick after the Cardinals made him a first-round pick years ago but couldn’t quite get the most out of him. With Reddick’s former DC in Jonathan Gannon now running the show in the desert, an attempt for Reddick would make sense.
Today, Reddick cleared up some of the trade speculation when speaking with B/R NFL insider Jordan Schultz.
“I would like to get an extension done here at home. At no point did I ever tell the organization I want to be traded,” he said. “This is home for me. I was born and raised here. Two of the most fun years playing football in my life came here. I’ve cherished being an Eagle.”
On Twitter, Reddick himself posted, “Never asked for a trade. However, I do understand it’s a business. Preparing for whatever is next!”
So – a reunion is still potential in the cards – though Reddick’s words make it seem like he’d like to remain with the Eagles.
